Android Engineer – Super App Platform

PhonePe has evolved from a UPI app into a financial super app spanning insurance, lending, stock broking, and hyperlocal commerce via Pincode and Indus App Store. With 50 crore registered users and the highest active Android app installs in the Indian fintech space, PhonePe's Android engineering team is one of the most impactful mobile teams in the country. This role is remote-eligible for candidates across India with quarterly visits to the Bengaluru HQ. As an Android Engineer on the Super App Platform team, you will build the foundational Android infrastructure that enables PhonePe's rapidly growing portfolio of mini-apps and financial products to be delivered as a seamless, unified experience. Your responsibilities include architecting and building the modular Android application framework that powers PhonePe's super app, implementing a dynamic feature delivery system using Android App Bundles and Play Feature Delivery, building in-app navigation and deep linking infrastructure that works across 50+ mini-apps, optimising APK size and startup time for low-spec devices with 2GB RAM, implementing analytics instrumentation for 500+ event types using PhonePe's internal telemetry SDK, and mentoring 3–4 mid-level Android engineers.
