Backend Engineer – Node.js / Microservices

Zomato is India's leading food delivery and restaurant discovery platform, serving over 500 cities and processing millions of orders daily from its Gurugram headquarters. As a Backend Engineer, you will own and build high-throughput microservices that power Zomato's order management, restaurant cataloguing, delivery logistics, and customer notifications systems. Your responsibilities include designing event-driven architectures using Kafka, building RESTful and gRPC APIs using Node.js and TypeScript, managing PostgreSQL and Redis data stores at scale, implementing distributed caching strategies to handle traffic spikes during mega-sale events, and participating in rigorous system design reviews with principal engineers. You will work in cross-functional squads with PMs and designers, directly influencing the roadmap of features that millions of users interact with every day.
