Senior Backend Engineer – Payments Infrastructure

Razorpay is India's first full-stack financial solutions company, headquartered in Bengaluru, and powers payments for over 8 million businesses including Swiggy, CRED, Airtel, and BookMyShow. This is a remote-eligible role for engineers based anywhere in India, with occasional in-person sprints at the Bengaluru HQ. As a Senior Backend Engineer on the Payments Infrastructure team, you will be responsible for building and scaling the critical systems that process hundreds of millions of financial transactions every month across UPI, cards, net banking, BNPL, and international payment rails. Your responsibilities include designing highly available and fault-tolerant Java microservices on Spring Boot, building idempotent payment APIs compliant with RBI and NPCI standards, implementing distributed transaction management using the Saga pattern, building real-time reconciliation pipelines on Kafka, managing MySQL and Redis at petabyte scale, and leading architectural reviews for new payment product features. You will work alongside some of India's best payment engineers and directly influence how hundreds of millions of Indians pay.
